Our Ski Season is Ending Soon!
We hope everyone is out enjoying the sunshine and Spring skiing…there are only a few more days to go before operations close for the season!
The Wildfire Risk Reduction
Working with the Mountain Resorts Branch and the Okanagan Indian Band (OKIB), Silver Star Resort has plans to continue with the Wildfire Risk Reduction work that was started last fall. This will mean active timber harvesting by machine (logging) below the homes on The Knoll, starting near the top of Cloud 9 and working west from there.
The trails in this area (including Bridle Path, Knoll Skiway, Night Loop, Tin Tin and Silver Streak) will be closed for everyone’s safety. Starting April 4th there will be equipment actively pushing snow off of some of the trail system to open up access for logging equipment. The XC trails will NOT be groomed or accessible after closing April 3rd, as has happened in previous years.
Please stay clear of the trails and active logging areas.
March is a great time to don snowshoes, and walk your property with a saw, trimming all the lower branches of the trees. It definitely beats ladder work in June!
The anticipated dates for the annual Spring Clean Up and Chipping are the 16th to the 26 of June. All yard and property debris will need to be at your curbside in that time period. You will be advised of the exact chipping date closer to the time.
Compost Collection Arrives at Silver Star!
The bin is currently located at the entrance to lot E. This is an initiative of the Silver Star Resort Association (SSRA) and they will be monitoring the bin to ensure that the compost bin does not get contaminated with household waste.
Sustainability is a pillar for the SSRA and they will have a few bins for those wanting to be a part of a sustainability working group. The SSRA will also be providing compostable bags for distribution after April 2nd. Please contact the SSRA at email@example.com if you wish to participate.

Have You Paid Your Annual Dues?
We rely on you to continue the programs and initiatives that the Association takes on each year. Some of them are visible, like the Mailbox structure and the addition of signage for ski access. Some are not so visible, but have the potential to impact your wallet, like the StarGas and Silverhawk initiatives.
PLEASE…your annual membership is only $20, and it is very easy to pay via e-transfer, PayPal, or old fashioned cash or cheque in the mail. Please go to www.sspoa.ca and click on the membership button.
